Sara Flynn with Loewe for Miami Art Week

Sara Flynn has been selected as one of just three artists whose work is featured in the Loewe Foundation's third annual Chance Encounters exhibition which celebrates Miami Art Basel 2017 by bringing together artists from various disciplines in order to explore unexpected conversations. 4th December 2017 - 4th February 2018.



Conor Walton with Arcadia Contemporary in California

Golden Fleece Artists at Ceramics Ireland Exhibition

The unique creative telents of Isobel Egan, Sara Flynn and Nuala O'Donovan are on display at Ceramics Ireland's Touchstone exhibition celebrating the organisation's 40th anniversary.

The exhibition showcases the work of 36 selected makers of and from Ireland. Farmleigh Gallery, Phoenix Park, 18th June - 30th September 2017; National Craft Gallery, Kilkenny, 18th November 2017 - 21st January 2018.








Nuala O'Donovan & Isobel Egan in Collins's Barracks

Nuala O'Donovan and Isobel Egan are among the six Irish ceramicists selected for inclusion in the Shadow of Sodeisha exhibition of Japanese and Irish art in clay at the National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History in Collins's Barracks in Dublin. 31st March 2017 - February 2018.







Sara Flynn Shortlisted for the Loewe Craft Prize

Sara Flynn was one of the 26 finalists out of some 4,000 artists worldwide who entered for the first annual Loewe Craft Prize. The winner, woodturner Ernst Gamperl, was announced on April 10th 2017. An exhibition of the finalists' works is currently touring in COAM Madrid (11th April - 9th May 2017), Chamber Gallery in New York (30th May - 6th June 2017), Paris (September 2017), Tokyo (November 2017), and Collect Contemporary Craft Fair at Saatchi Gallery in London (22nd - 25th February 2018).

Jennifer Trouton's paintings were showcased in the Lavit Gallery's Molesworth Gallery Artists exhibition in Cork. 7th November - 2nd December 2017.





Paul Mac Cormaic Solo at Axis Arts Centre

Paul Mac Cormaic had a solo exhibition The Secular Icons running at Axis Arts Centre in Ballymun, exploiting the concept of Orthodox and Byzantine icons to take a wry look at 21st century Ireland. The show ran throughout the month of November 2017.




Carol Hodder and Michael Wann at NOA 2017

Both Carol Hodder and Michael Wann had work selected for the 2017 National Open Art Exhibition of British and Irish contemporary art, showing at Bargehouse Oxo Tower Wharf on Southbank, London, from 17th - 26th November 2017.





Conor Walton Solo at Chimera Gallery

Conor Walton's latest solo exhibition Rapt and Unwrapped showed at The Chimera Gallery in Mullingar from 4th - 25th November 2017.



Siobhan McDonald at Highlanes Gallery

Siobhan McDonald's environment-themed installation A Change in the Signal - Crystalline was on view at Highlanes Gallery in Drogheda. 7th October - 25th November 2017.






Emma Bourke and Suzannah Vaughan at NCAD Gallery

Works by Emma Bourke and Suzannah Vaughan, plus the inspirational Róisín de Buitléar (former Chair of the Golden Fleece artist advisory panel), were showcased at the inaugural Ireland Glass Biennale exhibition which ran at NCAD Gallery from 27th October - 13th November 2017.












Eoin Mac Lochlainn & Yanny Petters with OCG at VUE

At Vue 2017, Ireland’s National Contemporary Art Fair at the RHA in Dublin, Olivier Cornet Gallery and their artists presented '2° C', a group show on the theme of climate change, supported by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The exhibition will subsequently move to Olivier Cornet Gallery, where it will feature a programme of workshops and seminars in collaboration with the artists and the EPA.

Eoin Mac Lochlainnn and Yanny Petters both contributed new work to this exhibition.

2nd - 5th November 2017 and then at Olivier Cornet Gallery from 16th December 2017 - 15th February 2018.






Cristin Leach on Joe Hogan and Ann Quinn

in October 2017, works by both Joe Hogan and Ann Quinn were selected by Cristín Leach for her 21st Century Ireland in 21 Artworks series of articles for RTÉ Culture.

Artists Featured in Poetry Ireland Review

Eoin Mac Lochlainn and Kate Murphy were two of the ten artists who have been involved in the Olivier Cornet Gallery's collaborative project Concerning the Other which culminated in an exhibition of the resulting artworks in the gallery from 10th September - 6th October 2017.

Cóilín Ó Dubhghaill at Tresor Contemporary Craft

Cóilín Ó Dubhghaill's consummate metalsmithing skills were on display at TRESOR Contemporary Craft Fair in Basel this weekend, where he was one of the artists showcased by Taste Contemporary Craft Gallery, Geneva. 21st - 24th September 2017.



Gillian Lawler with Difference Engine in Rotterdam

Gillian Lawler and fellow members of Difference Engine presented their latest collective experiment Travellator, a context-sensitive exhibition at ONONO gallery, Rotterdam. 8th - 23rd September 2017.

Claire Kerr with Purdy Hicks in London

A selection of Claire Kerr's extraordinary miniatures ("The keyhole is small, but the imaginative world beyond that it represents is limitless ...") were on display at Purdy Hicks Gallery's group exhibition Small, which ran from 6th July - 2nd September 2017.








Golden Fleece Artists Showing at Hamilton Gallery

Mary Burke, Gerry Davis, Eoin Mac Lochlainn, Geraldine O'Reilly, Conor Walton and Michael Wann each provided their own distinctive take on the Yeatsian theme of the Crazy Jane exhibition at Hamilton Gallery in Sligo, where ninety-odd visual artists from all over Ireland were invited to bring their own contemporary visual reflections to bear on Yeats' most potent and visceral female foil Crazy Jane. 13th June - 2nd September 2017.




















Golden Fleece Artists in DCCOI's Portfolio 2017-2018

Work by several Golden Fleece linked artists, including the late and sorely missed Liam Flynn plus Una Burke, Sara Flynn, Joe Hogan, John Lee, Eily O'Connell and Coilin O Dubhghaill was on display in the Narratives in Making exhibition showcasing new and innovative works from the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland's PORTFOLIO: Critical Selection 2017-18. The exhibition ran from 12th May - 5th July 2017 at the National Craft Gallery in Kilkenny, and then from 22nd July - 4th September 2017 at the Ruthin Craft Centre in Wales.



Isobel Egan with Hexagon Classic Design

Isobel Egan's creations featured in the Whiter Shade of Pale exhibition of ceramics, sculpture, photographs and furniture at Hexagon Classic Design Gallery in London. From 27th April 2017 and throughout the summer.



Siobhán McDonald at Catherine Hammond Gallery

Somewhere in the Future, an exhibition of new work by Siobhán McDonald, ran at the Catherine Hammond Gallery in Skibbereen. 11th - 31st August 2017.



Golden Fleece Makers at RDS Craft Awards

RDS Crafts Awards winners Joe Hogan (Established Maker prize for basketry) and Kate O'Kelly (Emerging Maker prize for ceramics), together with Fiona Mulholland,and Emma Bourke, had work on display in the RDS Craft Awards Exhibition in the RDS Concert Hall during Dublin Horse Show. 9th - 13th August 2017.

Chloë Dowds wins DCCOI Residency Award

In July 2017, Chloë Dowds won a Future Makers Residency Support Award from the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland, which helped fund the month long ceramics residency in July and August 2017 that she was offered at the Zentrum Fur Keramik in Berlin.



Kate Murphy at Wexford Arts Centre

Kate Murphy was one of a dynamic group of Wexford artists whose exhibition And Creatures Dream ... A New Language was on display at Wexford Arts Centre. 3rd July - 25th August 2017.



Frances Ryan at Royal Academy of Arts in London

Frances Ryan's painting Oasis 9 was selected for the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Show in London. 13th June - 20th August 2017.



Golden Fleece Artists in RHA Annual Exhibition

Upwards of 20 Golden Fleece listed artists in various disciplines had work selected for the Royal Hibernian Academy's 187th Annual Exhibition. And Rachel Joynt was awarded the Solomon Fine Art Sculpture Award for her River Goddeess (Series II). 23rd May - 12th August 2017.




Ursula Burke at the Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh

Ursula Burke was one of seven Northern Irish artists showcased in the exhibition so it is at the Mattress Factory - Museum of Contemporary Art in Pittsburgh. 7th April - 7th August 2017.



David O'Kane Solo at Gallery Baton in Seoul

David O'Kane continued his association with Gallery Baton with Lapse of Time, a solo exhibition of animated video works in the gallery's dedicated video project space Observation Deck. 29th June - 29th July 2017.

Gerry Davis's portrait of Kilkenny hurling legend Henry Shefflin, which was commissioned for the National Portrait Collection as part of Gerry's reward for winning the 2016 Hennessy Portrait Prize, was unveiled at the National Gallery of Ireland on June 12th 2017.
