Emma Bourke and Róisín de Buitléar at Solomon Fine Art

Both Emma Bourke and Róisín de Buitléar featured in PORTFOLIO: Glass at Solomon Fine Art, an exhibition of glass by Ireland's foremost artists and makers held in conjunction with the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland for Irish Design 2015. 20th March - 16th May 2015.

Róisín showed designs from the Urban Warrior collection she created in collaboration with goldsmith Tuula Harrington, which pays homage to the tradition of Irish jewellery making from Viking to contemporary times, reflecting the diversity of Ireland's cultural ancestry.

And Emma showed pieces from her Ethnobotany series in flameworked borosilicate glass with silver jewellery elements.

Ursula Burke exhibiting in Rome and in Portadown

Ursula Burke's boundary-transcending creations were on show in two group exhibitions in the Spring of 2015.

At Gallery Ex Elettrofonica in Rome, Displacements; The Trouble with Being Human These Days sought to stimulate a reflection on the individual in relation to territory or community, through the works of Ursula Burke and four other artists. 27th March - 13th May 2015.

Her work also featured in When the Wind Blows at the Millennium Court Arts Centre in Portadown, a cultural exchange between Fukushima, Japan and Portadown, Northern Ireland, curated by Japan based curator Yumi Song and Northern Ireland based artist and curator Shiro Masuyama. 13th March - 2nd May 2015.




Nuala O'Donovan showing in Liverpool and Swansea

Nuala O'Donovan distinguished herself as the only Irish exhibitor in Sculpture as Textiles; Textiles as Sculpture, an exhibition exploring the relationship and interconnectivity between sculpture and textiles, at the Bluecoat Display Centre in Liverpool from 14th March - 9th May 2015.

And at the Mission Gallery in Swansea, she was one of just four makers selected to feature in Cork Makers in Focus, an exhibition continuing an exchange with Cork Craft & Design that began at Cork Craft Month in 2014. 31st March - 10th May 2015.



Róisín de Buitléar Solo Exhibition at Solstice Gallery

Róisín de Buitléar's major exhibition of new work Ornamentation - explorations of glass sound and form at Solstice Gallery in Navan ran from 5th February - 17th April 2015.



Mary Burke's House Portraits on tour

Mary Burke's latest solo exhibition, House Portraits, consists of a series of paintings of the homes of 10 families in West Tallaght. The project was commissioned in 2013 by Tallaght Community Arts: it first ran at RUA RED in Tallaght from 13th March - 11th April 2015 and goes on to tour a number of other venues in Ireland and the UK.

Siobhan McDonald at The Lab with UCD Science Artists

Welcome Disturbances, an exhibition presenting the diverse practices of Siobhan McDonald and her fellow UCD Science Artists In Residence, runs at Dublin City Council's The Lab Gallery from January 29th - April 11th 2015.



Cóilín Ó Dubhghaill among Modern Masters in Munich

Cóilín Ó Dubhghaill was an invited artist at the special Modern Masters exhibition running during the International Trade Fair in Munich. 11th - 17th March 2015.



Gillian Lawler at Pallas Projects

Gillian Lawler was one of 13 Dublin-affiliated woman painters whose work is celebrated in Panorama, a group exhibition at Pallas Projects in Dublin. 11th - 15th March 2015.



Geraldine O'Neill elected to Aosdána

Our warm congratulations to Geraldine O'Neill who was elected to membership of Aosdána at its General Assembly on March 6th 2015.





Caoimhe Kilfeather in inaugural exhibition at Uillinn

Caoimhe Kilfeather was among nine leading artists based in Ireland whose sculptural and installation work went on show in Fourth Space, the inaugural exhibition at Uillinn, West Cork Arts Centre's new building, running from 31st January - 14th March 2015.

Also in January, Temple Bar Gallery + Studios held a book launch for This Attentive Space, published in connection with Caoimhe's exhibition of the same name held there in 2014.




Nuala O'Donovan and Isobel Egan at Solomon Fine Art

In January 2015, Solomon Fine Art launched PORTFOLIO@Solomon, a dedicated design & craft gallery presenting a twelve month programme of exhibitions in the new gallery to showcase work from the Design & Craft Council of Ireland's PORTFOLIO programme, featuring over 100 of Ireland's most renowned designers and makers in Ceramics, Jewellery, Glass, Metals, Paper, Textiles, Calligraphy, Furniture, Woodturning and Basketry.

The inaugural exhibition in the series focused on ceramics, presenting over eighty innovative artworks by twenty different makers, including Nuala D'Donovan and Isobel Egan. 30th January - 14th March 2015.



Una Burke at Paris Fashion Week 2015

Una Burke's new lines of bags and bodywear for her AW15 collection showed to advantage at her stand with Première Classe during Paris Fashion Week, 3rd - 11th March 2015.




Claire Kerr in Cologne and Madrid

Following on her solo exhibition of new work Should we have stayed at home and thought of here? at Galerie Stefan Röpke, Cologne (5th September - 11th October 2014), Claire Kerr continued on the international scene in the group exhibition The Story of a Bad Boy at Espacio Artkunstarte, Madrid. 27th February - 31st July 2015.





Ceramics Ireland "Centred" at Wandesford Quay

Isobel Egan, Nuala O'Donovan and Neil Read were among the makers whose work was selected for Ceramics Ireland's showcase exhibition Centred, which then moved to Wandesford Quay Gallery in Cork.

This exhibition was originally organized to coincide with the International Academy of Ceramics 46th General Assembly, which took place in Dublin in September 2014. It was then brought to Cork to mark the designated year of Irish Design 2015, running there from February 6th - 28th 2015.






Una Burke in Scottish Gallery Jewellery Exhibition

The Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh held an exhibition of work by three vibrant modern jewellers including Una Burke and her studded leather bodywear. 4th - 28th February 2015.



Allyson Keehan exhibiting in Luan Gallery

Allyson Keehan had work on show in the Lonely Planet exhibition at Luan Gallery in Athlone. The exhibition presented a strong cross section of mid career and emerging artists living and working throughout Ireland. 16th January - 22nd February 2015.



Conor Walton Lecturing to Friends of the National Gallery

Conor Walton gave a lecture entitled Subverting Modernism: My Life as a Painter to the Friends of the National Gallery of Ireland on February 5th 2015.



Muriel Beckett and Joe Hogan at Maison et Objet in Paris

The subtle, deceptively simple techniques of Joe Hogan's basketry and Muriel Beckett's rugs were well to the fore on the Design & Craft Council of Ireland's stand at Maison et Objet 2015 in Paris. 23rd - 27th January 2015.

Brendan Madden's Special Mention at Showcase Ireland

Brendan Madden (Brendan Joseph)'s bow ties got a special mention in the Best New Product: Accessories category of the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland's awards at Showcase Ireland 2015 at the RDS.

And his Dublin from the Hills woven silk scarf had the distinction of becoming the DCCOI's gift to President Michael D Higgins, who opened the show.
